National Association of Polytechnic students(NAPS) Under the leadership of its president, Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji have call for peaceful protest fixed for Saturday, August 1 2020 to compel federal government to reopen schools for academic activities. This is coming after the two weeks ultimatum issued earlier had expired.
The federal government announced the shut down of campuses on March to contain the spread of COVID19 which has paralysed so many activities and the Nigeria economy.
Polytechnic Students most especially the graduating one’s have been lamenting on the continuous postponement of resumption date by the federal government in which according them Have an adverse effect on their future.
Comrade Olalere Benedict said there is a need for the Minister of Education, Presidential Task force and president Muhammadu Buhari to reconsider the reopening of schools so as to save the future of Nigerian students since market places, parks, restaurants, worship centres and others have been asked to reopen.
The Protest which it’s aim is to compel federal Government to reopen campuses is fixed to hold 9:00am tomorrow in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
In a Press Release from office of the National president which reads:
Everyday the hope of Nigerian Polytechnic Students keep on dashing on resumption and no one is talking about it anymore… Anxiety is now the order of the day for Students….
Markets place , motor parks and Religious Centres are now Active, while Schools that are more decent and Secure against any Virus is been short down.
The Minister of Education and every Stakeholders should talk to us, we are tired of staying back at home.
Lot is happening to Students at home.
Depression is here and there, the Final year Students are Crying and dying
Federal Government, President Mohammadu Buhari, come to our rescue.
